Secondary research

Secondary research

Secondary research is gathering the information of websites, books, Journals, Internet, Photo, Library’s, ratings and newspapers etc.  Secondary Research is where someone else has already done it and then you’re getting the information of them.

secondary research is help full towards an media company by allowing them to access websites that shows popular TV programs or movies etc
(http://www.barb.co.UK/whats-new/monthly-top-10?)

Here's an example of most popular episodes watched on E4 of the websites barb  Barb is an website that gathers information to find out how many people watch which program. This will help media to understand what kind of shows their audience might be more into. for example, The 100 is number one TV series on E4 July 14th with 2,051 views while holly-oaks is the 10th most popular TV program with just 1,142 views. This could prove that the genre adventure and more survive etc is more popular then soaps at the moment.

An advantage of using secondary research is that their are a lot of different information available for you within a book.  Or you can collect information from a local library which most large city's  might also have expert assistance available. An other advantage of using the library is that the Liberians will help locate what book your looking  for and let you take the book to work/home. Finding information in the library means the source is more likely to be more reliable as the books are checker for any false information before they are published.
However looking in the library or on the internet etc can be time consuming and make you waste your time trying to find the correct information needed same thing if you need to order and reserve the book as it might take up to weeks for the book to deliver to the library. Another disadvantage, is that i the book your reading is big and is very difficult to find the information then it can be time consuming and take up to a few hours looking through the information.
